Privacy Policy
What we collect, what we don't, and what you can ask us to do about it.
Who we are
RigFloorHQ (rigfloorhq.com) is a free reference site covering drilling, well control, rig equipment, welding and oilfield careers.
The data controller responsible for your personal data is RigFloorHQ, 483 Chaiyaphruek 3 Alley, Muang Pattaya, Bang Lamung District, Chon Buri 20150, Thailand. You can contact us about anything in this policy at contact@rigfloorhq.com.
What we collect
Very little, and none of it identifies you by name:
- Analytics data, only if you accept. Which pages are viewed, how long you stay, roughly where in the world you are, and what device and browser you used. This is collected by Google Analytics and tied to a randomly generated identifier, not to you. If you decline, none of it is stored on your device and Google receives only an anonymous signal that a page was viewed.
- Server logs. Our host records standard technical information when it delivers a page — your IP address, browser and operating system, the page requested, the time, and the page you came from. This is how any web server works; it is used to deliver pages and to protect against abuse and attack.
- Correspondence. If you email us, we hold your email address and whatever you wrote, for as long as it takes to deal with it.
What we do not collect
We want to be specific here, because most privacy policies are vague in ways that favour the site. As of the date above, RigFloorHQ does not:
- set any cookies without asking you first — see our Cookie Policy;
- use tracking beyond the page analytics described above;
- operate user accounts, logins, newsletters or contact forms;
- display advertising, or work with advertising or data brokers;
- use tracking pixels, fingerprinting, session recording or heatmaps;
- collect payment details — nothing on this site is for sale;
- build profiles, or make automated decisions about you;
- sell, rent or share personal data for anyone else's marketing.
The calculators on this site — kill sheet, hydrostatic pressure, mud weight window — run entirely in your browser. The figures you type are never transmitted to us or to anyone else, and nothing is saved when you leave the page.
Web fonts
Our pages load typefaces hosted by Google Fonts. When a font loads, Google receives your IP address and browser details. Google states that it does not set cookies on the Google Fonts service or use these requests for advertising, but the request does leave your browser and we cannot control what Google does with it. Their handling is governed by Google's privacy policy.
This is the only third-party request our pages make. If you would rather it did not happen, a content blocker will stop it and the site will still work — you will just see your system's default typefaces.
Our lawful basis
- Analytics — consent. We use Google Analytics to see which pages are useful and how people find us. Analytics storage is used only where you have consented, and you can withdraw that consent at any time through Cookie settings in the footer.
- Server logs and web fonts — legitimate interests. We have a legitimate interest in delivering the site reliably, keeping it secure, and having it render as designed. The impact on you is minimal and no profile is built.
- Correspondence — legitimate interests. If you email us, we use your details to reply to you.
Analytics is the only processing here that requires consent, which is why the banner exists and why declining is exactly as easy as accepting. Everything else is what any web server must do to send you a page.
Who we share data with
| Provider | What they do | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Vercel Inc. | Website hosting and content delivery. Server logs may include IP addresses. | United States |
| Google LLC | Google Analytics, and the web fonts used across the site. Receives your IP address in both cases. | United States |
| Namecheap, Inc. | Domain registration and email forwarding for our contact address. | United States |
| Proton AG | Hosts the mailbox that receives correspondence sent to our contact address. | Switzerland |
We may also disclose data where the law requires it. That is the complete list — there are no analytics vendors, ad networks or data brokers to add to it.
International transfers
We operate from Thailand and our providers are based mainly in the United States, so if you are in the UK or European Economic Area your data is transferred outside that area. Where it is, we rely on appropriate safeguards including the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. Several of these providers are also certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep it
- Server logs — retained by our host for a short rolling period and then deleted automatically. We do not copy them or keep our own archive.
- Analytics data — retained by Google Analytics for 14 months, after which it is deleted automatically.
- Analytics cookies — up to 2 years, or until you decline or clear them.
- Your consent choice — stored in your browser until you clear it.
- Correspondence — kept for as long as needed to deal with your message and for a reasonable period afterwards, then deleted.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you have the right to:
- ask what personal data we hold about you and get a copy of it;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- ask us to delete your data;
- object to, or ask us to restrict, our processing;
- receive data you gave us in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on it.
Email contact@rigfloorhq.com to exercise any of these. We will respond within one month, and it is free.
In practice, if you have only read the site and never emailed us, we hold nothing that could identify you and there is nothing for us to return or delete. We would rather say that plainly than imply we are sitting on a file we do not have.
Children
This site publishes industrial reference material for working adults and people entering the trade. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or to your local supervisory authority if you are in the EEA.
Security
The site is served entirely over encrypted HTTPS. It is a static site with no database, no user accounts and no payment processing, which keeps the amount of personal data at risk close to zero.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site develops — in particular if we ever introduce advertising. If we do, we will change the date above, update the Cookie Policy, and ask for your consent again before any new tracking technology is used.
